Trey Nelson Named First Team All-PSAC West

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- After a record-setting season in the Blue & Gold, the Golden Eagles' Trey Nelson was voted a First Team All-PSAC West performer by the conference's men's basketball coaches on Thursday. The Clarion point guard ranked among the best in the nation in assists and steals while also scoring at a strong clip.

Nelson shattered the school's single season assists record in 2025-26, dishing out 186 dimes to break the previous record of 173 set by Oronn Brown during the 1995-96 season. His average of 6.6 assists per game ties Dave Wojciechowski's average during the 1992-93 season for second place in the program's record books. Both Nelson's total assists and average per game in 2025-26 rank first in the conference and third in NCAA Division II.

In just two seasons as a Golden Eagle, Nelson finishes first on the program's career assists per game list with an average of 6.2 assists per game, and ninth on the program's career assists list with 335 total in his career.

Nelson stepped up on offense in 2025-26, upping his scoring average by nearly five points per game to average 14.4 points on 53.1 percent shooting from the field. He improved as a three-point shooter, making 46 of 104 attempts for a 44.2 three-point percentage, and he was deadly at the free throw line with an 85.4 free throw percentage.

He was strong on the defensive side of the floor as well. Nelson finished the year third in the PSAC and 24th in Division II in total steals with 62, and his average of 2.21 steals per game also ranked third in the PSAC.

This marks the second consecutive year the Golden Eagles have been represented on the PSAC West First Team. Cam Kearney earned honors a season ago.
