BETHANY, W.Va. --- The Golden Eagles cross country team had an outstanding day at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday, taking second place overall with three top-five finishers to their credit. Clarion finished with 44 team points, behind only winner Saint Vincent's 37 team points.
 
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the tight pack at the top for the Golden Eagles, who put three athletes in the top five and four in the top ten in the 6K race. Abigail Butera was the first to cross the line, taking second place overall with a time of 23:46.2. Raechel Braun was just 10 seconds behind her, placing fourth in the field with a time of 23:56.6. Emmy Davis rounded out the trio in the top five with a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in 24:31.8.
 
Freshman Riley Miller rounded out the top-10, placing tenth with a time of 25:10.4, while junior Chesnee Williams filled out Clarion's top-five with a 23^rd place finish (26:41.9). Freshmen Ella Nagel was less than two seconds behind with a time of 26:43.6, and Lauryn Swantek took seventh on the team and 31^st overall with a time of 28:23.6.
