DANVILLE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles men's golf team finished their first day at the Collegiate Officials Challenge hosted by Bloomsburg on Saturday, tying for fourth in the field of eight after 18 holes at Frosty Valley Resort.
 
Clarion posted a team score of 315 on Saturday, tying them with Shepherd.
 
Kameron Kerle had a strong first round, shooting a 76 to tie for eighth place in the field with five other golfers. After shooting a 40 on the front nine Kerle found his groove on the back nine, shooting an even 36 with two birdies to offset two bogies. His first came on No. 11, when he made birdie on the par five, and he later carded a three on the par four No.14 hole.
 
Just a single stroke behind Kerle was Brady Houser, who had three birdies to his credit in shooting a 77 and tying for 14th. Two of his came on the front nine, including a two on the par three No. 4 hole, and another on the par four No. 7 hole. The last came on his penultimate hole of the round, a three on the par four No. 17.
 
Devon Lauer tied for 19^th in the field with a 79 on Saturday, with birdies on No. 11 and No. 17 to give him a 37 on the back nine, while Jase Renwick rounded out Clarion's scoring with an 83. Ethan Crooks and Henry Bortmes shot 88 and 90 respectively.
