KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- Behind a pair of top-five finishes, including a huge climb up the leaderboard for Hannah Smith, the Golden Eagles women's golf team finished second round action at the Millersville Fall Classic on Tuesday, taking sixth place in the team field.
 
The Golden Eagles posted a team score of 346 in the second round, giving them a two-day score of 689 (343-346) at Berkleigh Country Club.
 
Smith was the low scorer of the day for Clarion, climbing seven spots up the leaderboard with a six-stroke improvement on her Monday performance. The senior shot a 37 on the front nine, balancing three bogeys with one birdie – on the par four No. 4 hole – to end up just two over par. She was just two over on the back nine as well, carding seven pars and two bogeys for a 39 to give her a 76 on the day.
 
With the Tuesday surge, Smith jumped into fifth place overall at the tournament with a 158 (82-76). That put her just two strokes behind Clarion's tournament leader McKayla Kerle, who tied for third with her own impressive two-day stretch. Kerle shaved two strokes off her previous day's performance with a 77 on Tuesday, including a pair of birdies to put her at 156 (79-77) for the tournament.
 
Amber Roth was third on the team on Tuesday, shooting a 92 that was two strokes behind her Monday pace, while Ashlee Albright improved by seven strokes and shot a 101 on Tuesday.
