The Tony Banner Family Scholarship was created by Mr. Banner’s wife, Betty Jo, and his children, Andrew and Lindsay (’07) Banner. This scholarship honors Mr. Banner’s love and support of athletics, particularly as they relate to Clarion University. Mr. Banner believed that athletes could learn lessons in the gym and on the field that directly corresponded to everyday life. These lessons could truly improve an individual.
As a result, the recipient of the scholarship should exemplify passion, hard work and pride in self and team. To be eligible, a student must be a member of Clarion University women’s volleyball team who meets the 3.2 GPA requirements of a scholar-athlete.
