Doug Knepp

            Doug Knepp returns for his second season under Jay Foster in 2012 to coach linebackers and help with special teams play. 

            Knepp also coached at Clarion in the 1994 and 1995 seasons tutoring the defensive line, Special Teams Coordinator and the Strength and Conditioning Coach under Malen Luke. 

            He came to Clarion in January of 1994 from Defiance College where he coached the defensive line for three seasons. In 1992 his line led the Defiance defense to a #2 national rushing ranking (59.4 ypg) and a #2 total defense ranking (185.6 ypg). 

            A native of Akron, Ohio, Doug graduated from Springfield high in 1984. An all-conference “O” lineman, Knepp earned 3 letters in football and track, and 2 in baseball. 

            Attending Akron university, Doug earned 4 football letters at defensive end. Akron was selected to the NCAA Div. I-AA playoffs his sophomore year with an 8-3 record. Voted Akron’s Most Valuable Lineman as a senior, he graduated in December 1988 with a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education and had a 3.2 QPA. 

            Assistant football coach at Uniontown-Lake High ion 1988, he was a graduate assistant at Toledo in 1989 and 1990 helping UT to the MAC title in 1990. 

            Doug has been Intramural/Recreation Director at Clarion University since 1996 and has been the Chair of the Student Affairs since 2008. He also was an assistant coach at Clarion-Limestone High in 2007, 08 and 09. Doug and wife Kris have a daughter Kara and sons Logan, Greyson and Mitch.
