Jimmy Gunning, a former Golden Eagle student-athlete with years of experience on the field, will continue this work as an assistant coach in 2024. Gunning will work with the Golden Eagle defensive line after assisting with the tight ends the year previous.
A former offensive lineman, Gunning started all 11 games at center for the Golden Eagles in 2022. Clarion boasted one of the top rushing attacks in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with Gunning at the middle of the line, averaging 161.5 rushing yards per game and scoring 17 times on the ground. Also an excellent student, Gunning was honored by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) at their annual scholar-athlete banquet.
Gunning graduated from Clarion with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Data Analytics in 2022. He is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration (MBA). A graduate of nearby Clarion-Limestone High School, Gunning is deeply involved with community service work. He is a member of the Millcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the department’s secretary. In addition to training to protect his community in emergencies, he is also responsible for helping the department’s fundraising efforts.
