RAY GILMAN - Equipment Manager/Vol. Assistant
Ray Gilman, 67, an experienced high school and college coach, begins his third season with the Golden Eagles handling the duties as equipment manager, while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach tutoring tight ends.
A Pittsburgh, Pa. native, Ray attended North Catholic high and graduated in 1961. He lettered in football, baseball and track.
Gilman attended Lock Haven University in the Fall of 1962 and was a 4-year player for the Bald Eagles at receiver and defensive back. He also ran track for one season.
After graduating from LH in 1966 he was an assistant coach at Northern High (67, 68), North Catholic (69) and Ringgold (70, 71 with Joe Montana).
In 1972 Ray was hired by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and worked there through his retirement in 2001. He was an assistant coach at A.C. Valley from 1997-99, then became head coach at A.C. Valley for the 2000 and 2001 seasons. He then coached at Edinboro for four seasons (2002-05) mentoring strong safeties and linebackers, then tight ends.
Ray has a son Christopher (G.A. Coach) and resides in Hilliard.
