Steven Baisey enters his third season as an assistant coach on the Golden Eagle staff in 2018.  A former assistant at Old Dominion with experience in professional football, Baisey is the offensive line coach at Clarion and recently added the title of recruiting coordinator.

For the second straight year Baisey got the most possible out of a young, injury-depleted offensive line unit, helping them pave the way for the Golden Eagle offense in 2017.  Junior Zack Morris was an All-PSAC West and Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region 1 selection for the second year in a row as he bounced between guard and center all year long.  The front five opened holes for dangerous freshman running back Mylique McGriff, who totaled nearly 1,000 total all-purpose yards in just the second half of the season.

Baisey helped hold together an offensive line that was decimated by injuries in 2016, with only Zack Morris and Jacob Good starting every game that year.  Morris was dominant, earning All-PSAC West First Team and Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region honors.  Others, like Andrew Vonada, Jake Heigel and Rob Korzon, stepped up to play an important part in the team's offensive surge at the end of the year.

Before coming to Clarion, Baisey was the offensive quality control coach & recruiting assistant for Old Dominion from 2015-16, where he assisted the offensive coordinator in preparing the Monarchs for their weekly opponents.  He was also responsible for preparing weekly advance scouting reports on opponents as well as self-scouting reports on his own team, breaking down film and identifying strengths and weaknesses in formations and play selection.

Before his stint at Old Dominion, Baisey was an assistant for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League, working in player personnel, coaching and operations.  He was responsible for preparing weekly advance scouting reports on opponents and also had his hands in all manner of football operations, from aiding the assistant general manager in contract negotiations to handling travel and practice arrangements for road games.

A large portion of Baisey’s professional background does not include football, however.  He possesses a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Appalachian School of Law and is admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland.  Baisey has served internships for the District Court as well as the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office; in both instances he was responsible for conducting legal research, interviewing victims and assisting State’s Attorney’s in case preparation.

Baisey played collegiately as an offensive guard at Shepherd from 2007-10, where he was part of their 2010 NCAA Final Four team and two West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) championship teams (2007, 2010).  While there he earned First Team All-WVIAC, Second Team All-Super Region 1 and All-American Honorable Mention recognition.

Baisey graduated from Shepherd with a Bachelors of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure with a Sports Communications/Management concentration.  He studied Sports and Entertainment Law at Southwestern Law School and earned his juris doctorate from Appalachian School of Law in May 2014.
