Zach Martin enters his first year as a graduate assistant coach for the Golden Eagle football program in 2020-21, where he will coach linebackers. He comes to Clarion having already completed several years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division III and Division I FCS levels.
Â
Martin worked briefly as an assistant at Lehigh in 2020, working as an assistant linebackers coach, a recruiting assistant and defensive quality control coach. He recruited nationally in a large territory that spanned much of the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions while also conducting daily Zoom virtual tours for prospective student-athletes. Martin was also responsible for teaching scheme and technique to the linebackers, and assisted both the defensive and special teams coordinators in weekly game plans.
Â
Before arriving at Lehigh, Martin spent three seasons as an assistant linebackers coach at his alma mater Susquehanna. He helped directly develop three All-Centennial conference honorees in his time there, including Craig Roumes, Cole Dixon and Connor Thompson.  Roumes won a slew of awards in his time at Susquehanna, including @TheCFBNetwork Division III All-America First Team honors, D3Football.com All-South Region Second Team, and a number of Defensive Player of the Week honors. Dixon was also named to the D3Football.com All-South Region team as well as a second team all-conference selection, and Thompson was a two-time first team all-conference selection. Susquehanna’s defense ranked in the top-10 nationally in seven different categories, including total defense (fifth), rushing yards per game (seventh) and sacks (eighth).
Â
Martin’s playing career includes one year as an inside linebacker at Lebanon Valley College in 2015, followed by two years as an inside linebacker at Susquehanna from 2016-17. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Susquehanna in 2019.
