Clarion Athletics

Chesterfield, a 2006 graduate of Clarion University and California University of Pa., returned to Clarion at the start of the 2010-11 school year after working for the Geisinger Health System in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., as an outreach athletic trainer for the Dallas Area School District from 2008-2010. In Spring 2023 he took over as the athletic department's head athletic trainer, after the retirement of longtime athletic trainer Jim Thornton.
 
Earning his master’s degree from North Carolina State in 2009, Chesterfield was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at North Carolina State from 2006-2008 where his primary duties were with the swimming and diving teams and women’s volleyball.
 
In addition to his athletic training duties at Clarion, Chesterfield is also an instructor in the Clarion/California University of Pa. Athletic Training Education program.
 
A native of Kingston, Pa., and a 2002 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Chesterfield was a four-year letterwinner on the Clarion University swimming and diving team and was the captain of the team his senior season.
 
Active in his community, Chesterfield is the Captain and President of the Clarion Fire and Hose Co. No. 1.  And the Chairman of the Clarion Borough Civil Service Commission.

With the family residing in Clarion, Mike and wife Maribeth have two sons, Connor and Cody.
