Dave Bennett

Dave Bennett enters his first year as a volunteer assistant coach on the Golden Eagles men’s basketball staff, with his years of work as a head basketball coach providing a valuable perspective to the Clarion staff.
 
Bennett spent the previous two years as the head coach of Brockway Area High School’s boys’ basketball team, turning that program around with a six-win improvement in his first year and a District 9 AA semifinal appearance.  Before that he spent eight years as the head coach at PSU – DuBois, recording an overall record of 130-94 in his time there.  He led the Nittany Lions to Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) championships in 207 and 2012, the only two conference championships in program history, and was named the PSUAC Coach of the Year in both of those years as well.
 
PSU-DuBois reached the USCAA National Tournament four times under Bennett, including making the national championship game in 2007 and the semifinal game in 2010.  Bennett coached six USCAA All-Americans and another six Honorable Mention All-Americans, as well as 30 Academic All-Conference honorees.
 
In 2007 Bennett founded Dave Bennett’s Elite Basketball Camp, which he ran from 2007-15.  He created speciality camps designed to improve fundamentals and skill level of high school players while also adding a youth camp for grades 1-9.
 
Bennett has attended an worked a number of camps in his career, including Penn State’s camp in 2009 and West Virginia’s camp in 2008.  He graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and a Master of Science in Sports Management from California (Pa.) in 2009.
