Shintrika Hudson

Shintrika Hudson, a former starter for the Clarion University softball team, is in her fourth year as the head coach of the Golden Eagles.

Hudson, who was orginally named interim head coach in the Fall of 2010 before being named the head coach prior to the start of the 2012 season , had been a volunteer assistant coach for the Golden Eagles for prior to taking the head job. She was also the head girls’ softball coach at North Caroline (Md.) High School from 2006-2008 helping North Caroline to Maryland state playoff appearances each year. She was also the assistant softball coach at North Caroline in 2005 helping lead the school to the Maryland state title. In addition to coaching softball, Hudson was an assistant basketball coach at North Caroline from 2005-2008 including as the junior varsity head coach from 2006-2008.

Under Hudson's guidance, Clarion's offense had one of its most productive seasons in 2012 hitting .267, the highest team-batting average since 1995 while scoring 131 runs, the most by a Golden Eagle squad since at least 1992. 

Employed at Clarion University in the Department of Academic Enrichment as an Instructor/ Learning Skills Specialist, Hudson, who resides in Clarion, is a 2004 graduate of Clarion with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/Social Studies and earned her master’s degree at Clarion in Dec. 2009 in Secondary Education/History. Prior to returning to her alma mater as a graduate assistant in the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in August 2008, Hudson was a Social Studies Teacher at North Caroline High School from the Fall of 2004 through the Spring of 2008. Upon returning to Clarion, she also served as a graduate assistant in the College of Education and Human Services and was the Office Manager for the Clarion History/Sociology/Political Science and Philosophy Department from Feb. 2010 to April 2010. Since returning to Clarion, Hudson has also been a substitute teacher in the Clarion and North Clarion School Districts.

Originally from nearby Dayton, Pa., and a graduate of Dayton High School, Hudson was a four-year starting outfielder for Clarion from 2000-2003. In 126 career games with 119 starts, Hudson hit .232 with 38 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples and 15 RBIs. She also was 11 of 17 in stolen base attempts, and her 38 runs scored are tied for the third most at Clarion since 1999 while her 11 thefts are the second most by a Golden Eagle since 1999.
