Jon Strub

Jon Strub enters his 13th year as the assistant volleyball coach at Clarion in 2025.

Strub has been a key asset in all facets for head coach Jennifer Herron.  His work in recruitment has helped the Golden Eagles to eight NCAA Tournament berths, two division championships, a PSAC title in 2021 and an Atlantic Region championship in 2023. The latter two were the first such titles for the Golden Eagles since 2010.

In 2023 Clarion won their first Atlantic Region championship in more than a decade, advancing to the NCAA Division II Championship in Moon Township in December. Clarion was buoyed by junior outside hitter Cassidy Snider, a unanimous All-American selection as well as the consensus Atlantic Region Player of the Year, and three-time AVCA All-America setter London Fuller. In 2024 Snider went on to earn unanimous All-America honors for the second straight year, becoming the most decorated player in program history.

The Golden Eagles' success extended deep into the postseason in 2022, as the team went on its longest NCAA Tournament run since 2010. Clarion reached the Atlantic Region championship match, putting them in the round of 16 in the national tournament for the first time in 13 years. The Golden Eagles boasted an All-American setter in London Fuller, who was the 2022 PSAC West Athlete of the Year, as well as All-America Honorable Mention outside hitter Cassidy Snider and All-Region outside hitter Julia Piccolino.

While serving as the graduate assistant for Clarion from 2011-13, Strub helped the Golden Eagles to a pair of NCAA Division II tournament appearances as well as the PSAC semifinals in 2011.

Strub  has a wealth of collegiate volleyball coaching experience having served as the assistant coach at his alma mater, Gannon, from 2003-2010 after serving as a student assistant coach for the Lady Knights. He was also the assistant women’s volleyball coach at NCAA Division III Allegheny for a year (2010-11) prior to coming to Clarion for the start of the 2011 season. He also was the head coach for the Gannon men’s club team from 2008-2010.

A 2006 graduate of Gannon with a Bachelor’s of Science in Management Information Systems, Strub earned his Master’s in Mass Media Arts & Journalism from Clarion in Dec. 2012.

A native of Erie, Pa., Stub graduated from McDowell High School in Erie in 2001. He currently resides in Clarion, Pa.
