Larry Wilson joined the Golden Eagles' coaching staff in January 2025 after spending two decades as an assistant coach in the PSAC. He is in his first year as Clarion's offensive coordinator in 2025.
Wilson was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at IUP from 2022-24, and he made an immediate impact upon his arrival at IUP. The Crimson Hawk offense ranked among the top five in the PSAC in nearly every major statistical category, including third in scoring offense (31.6), third in passing offense (249.1), fourth in rushing offense (161.7), second in total offense (410.8) and third in first downs (268.) The IUP offense boasted three All-Americans, two all-region and six all-conference picks during the 2022 season. Duane Brown, Darrell Davis and John Robinson all earned All-American honors for IUP in 2022, with Brown picking up PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year laurels.Â

With Wilson directing the offense, the 2022 edition of the Crimson Hawks finished 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC West division before beating Shepherd 24-21 in the PSAC Championship game at Miller Stadium. IUP went on to beat Ashland in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Division II tournament before falling to the Rams in the national quarterfinal.
Â
In 2023 the Crimson Hawks touted three First Team All-PSAC West honorees, including running back Dayjure Stewart and offensive linemen McLean Djouha and Chad Layton. Gerald Comedy was the third offensive lineman on the team to earn all-conference honors, making the PSAC West Second Team. IUP was fifth in the PSAC in scoring offense at 26.3 points per game, fourth in total offense at 366.6 yards per game and second in rushing yards at 178.4 yards per game. In 2024 Comedy earned First Team All-PSAC West honors alongside wide receiver Maurice Massey, and three other offensive players – JD Younger (RB), Daric Cotman (OT) and Layton (C) – earned Second Team laurels.
Â
Before his time at IUP, Wilson spent 17 seasons at California (PA) where he coached wide receivers, was a special teams coordinator, and spent three seasons as the Vulcans' offensive coordinator. Wilson helped the Vulcans to some of the best seasons in program history. California hit double-figure wins six times with Wilson coaching the offense, with five straight trips to the NCAA Division II playoffs, including three consecutive national semifinal appearances. Five of his receivers earned All-American status while the group combined for 19 first team and nine second team All-PSAC West honors. Wilson also helped four kicking specialists earn All-American honors.Â
