D.J. Bevevino

D.J. Bevevino enters his sixth year as a member of the Clarion administration in 2021-22, serving as the Associate Athletic Director and chief compliance officer for Golden Eagle athletics. He assumed the role of Interim Assistant Athletic Director on July 2, 2016 after a seven-year coaching stint.
 
A Clarion alumnus and former All-American diver, Bevevino served as head women's track & field coach since the from 2009-16, as well as the head women's cross country coach from 2010-14. A 37-year coaching veteran, he coached a number of successful individual student-athletes, including 2016 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches of America (USTFCCCA) All-Region Track and Field selections Kristen Belko and Tatiana Cloud and 2013 cross country selections Ciara Shorts and Megan Toddy. Shorts and Toddy were also and NCAA National Outdoor Track and Field qualifiers under Bevevino. He also coached two-time All-American Kim Hanslovan, who placed second and sixth in the Javelin in the 2010 and 2012 NCAA Outdoor National Track & Field Championships, respectively.
 
Bevevino, who retired as the vice-principal at Clarion High School in January 2010, was the highly successful head boys' track and field coach at Clarion High School from 1990-94 and again from 1996-2008.  He led the Bobcats' boys' track and field team to back-to-back PIAA state championships in 2000 and 2001 while also leading Clarion to five District 9 championships and multiple conference titles. He also coached two relay teams and two individuals to state titles, and had numerous District 9 and PIAA State qualifiers and medalists.

A 1977 graduate of Clarion with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/Science, Bevevino was an eight-time All-American diver for the Golden Eagles. He was inducted into the Clarion Sports Hall of Fame in April 2019. Upon graduation from Clarion, Bevevino worked as a high school teacher, guidance counselor and administrator, eventually becoming guidance counselor at Clarion High School in August 1989. While at Clarion, he also served a stint as Dean of Students and was the athletic director for 12 years (1995-2004 & 2007-08). While athletic director he became a Certified Athletic Administrator. Bevevino also served on the PIAA District 9 committee, the governing board of the district, for four years (2001-04).

Bevevino resides in Clarion with his wife Patti. The couple has three children, Erika, Ben and Adam.
