WEST CHESTER DEFEATS CLARION 35-17

(WEST CHESTER, PA): West Chester freshman running back Osagie Osunde broke open a close game with two long td scampers and led the Golden Rams to a 35-17 win over visiting Clarion on Saturday afternoon.

Played at John A. Farrell Stadium, West Chester raised its overall record to 4-2 while Clarion dropped to 1-5.

Osundie brought the crowd of 3,000 to their feet with 1:29 left in the second quarter as fielded a Clarion punt at his own 22, avoided a tackle by holding himself off the ground with his left hand, and broke a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown giving the Rams a 22-7 lead.

Late in the third (2:02) Osundie bolted off right tackle for a 78-yard touchdown giving West Chester a 28-10 lead and eventually the win.

West Chester opened the scoring on the first play of the game when qb Rob Findora tossed a 68-yard td pass to George Caroulis and a 7-0 lead.

Clarion tied the game with 7:37 left in the first quarter when Myron Hargon caught a punt at his own 20, broke two tackles and returned the punt 80-yards for a touchdown. Mark Hofmeister's PAT tied the game 7-7.

West Chester scored the next 15 points to jump ahead 22-7. Kicker Dan Wilbourne booted a 24-yard field goal with 4:18 left in the second for a 10-7 lead. After the Rams Chad Weaver intercepted a Clarion pass and returned it to the Eagle 23, the Rams drove in for the score on a 1-yard td run by Findora with 2:37 left before halftime, setting up Osunde's punt return.
