Alfonso Hoggard (Sr. Philadelphia) ran for 211 yards and 3 td's and qb
Ben Fiscus (Fr. Indiana) ran for 104 yards and 2 td's in leading Clarion to a 49-10 win over Millersville in a battle between two PSAC schools.
A Senior Day crowd of 2,800 watched the Golden Eagles finish the 2010 season with a 4-7 overall record, while Millersville ended 2-9.
Hoggard put Clarion ahead 14-0 in the first quarter and Golden Eagles never looked back. A 2009 and 2008 All-American, Hoggard exploded up the middle for a 53-yard td run on Clarion's first drive and the Eagles led 7-0 at 14:21 of the first.
On the Eagles next possession Hoggard took the pigskin, ran left, hit a hard cutback to the right then headed due north to the endzone for a 64-yard td jaunt and Clarion led 14-0 at 6:14 of the first.
Millersville cut the lead to 14-3 when Anthony Kassab booted a 32-yard field goal with1:43 left in the first, but the Eagles came right back with their third td drive of the day. Clarion went 66-yards in 11 plays, this time with Fiscus scoring on a two-yard run and the Eagles led 21-3 with 12:20 left in the second.
Clarion took a 28-3 lead into the locker room when Fiscus scored on a 44-yard run. On the read draw he started up the middle, then raced around left end and down the sideline for the score.
Robert Mamula's PAT made it 28-3 with 2:45 left in the second.
Hoggard scored his third td of the game on Clarion's first possession of the third quarter. The Eagles got the ball on the MU 20 when Marauder punter Jeff Lawson tried to run, then punt the football, but the ball was fumbled back for a loss of 29 on the play.
Four play later Hoggard scored on a 6-yard run giving Clarion a 35-3 lead.
Later in the third senior receiver
Jacques Robinson (Pgh-Oliver) caught a 20-yard td on a post-pattern from Fiscus for a 42-3 lead with 2:47 left in the third.
Millersville's Jamal Smith caught a 12-yard td pass from Bill Shirk at 13:31 of the fourth, and Clarion's
John Fuhrer scored on a 9-yard td run with 5:36 remaining to give Clarion its final margin of 49-10.
Clarion had 450 yards of total offense including 343 rushing and 107 passing.
Hoggard's 211 rushing yards gives him 1,054 yards this season, while finishing his career with 2,350 rushing yards, 27 rushing td's, 6,272 all-purpose yards and 34 overall td's.
Fiscus rushed for 104 yards on 13 carries, plus completed 6 of 13 passes for 96 yards and 1 td.
Robinson had 3 catches for 54 yards and 1 td. He ends the season with 44 catches for 547 yards and 4 td's and his career as the Golden Eagles all-time catch leader with 207 catches for 2,456 yards and 17 td's.
Nick Sipes (Sr. Curwensville) led the Clarion defense with 10 tackles, 2 tfl's and a forced fumble. He finished the season with 107 tackles and 12 tfl's, while ending his career with 302 tackles and 28 tfl's.
Joe Fox (Sr. Franklin Regional) had 8 stops and 4 tfl's, while
Barrington Morrison (Jr. Pgh/Penn Hills) had 7 tackles which included 5 tfl's and 4 sacks.
Millersville had 242 yards of offense including 4 yards rushing and 238 passing.
Bill Shirk completed 23 of 29 passes for 238 yards and 1 td. Dominic Sanders caught 6 for 67 yards and Jamal Smith also had 6 grabs for 67 yards and 1 td.
