CLARION'S FLEMING WINS AT 157 AT BODY BAR

(Ithaca, N.Y.):
Clarion wrestler James Fleming (So. West Mifflin) went 4-0 and won the individual title at 157-pounds while helping lead the Golden Eagles to a fourth place team finish at the Body Bar Invitational on Saturday.
 
            A total of six Golden Eagles earned places including Quintas McCorkle (Jr. Alexandria, Va.) 3rd at 285, Joe Waltko (So. Allison Park) fifth at 133, Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (Jr. Tashkent, Uzzbekistan) fifth at 165 Clint Podish (Jr. Sycamore/Waynesburg Central) fifth at 197 and Anthony  White (Fr. Phila. North Catholic) sixth at 149.
 
            Cornell scored 134 points to lead the team race, with Kent State second with 94, Central Michigan third ay 83.5, Clarion fourth with 75.5 and Buffalo fifth with 74. Eleven teams participated.
 
            Fleming opened with a fall at 0:55 over Chales Aungst (Drexel), then an 18-2 t. fall at 5:50 over Zack Kline (C. Mich), a fall at 2:11 over Craig Eifert (Cornell) and a 10-1 win in the finals over Mark Lewandowski (Buffalo). Fleming has an 11-1 record to start the year.
 
            McCorkle was 3-1 at heavyweight to finish third. He won 5-2 over Paul Schweighardt (Sacred Heart), won 12-5 over Dan Bittner (Binghamton), lost 4-2 to Brett Correll (Buffalo), then won 4-1 over Clint Snyder (Cornell).
 
            Waltko was 3-1 in finishing fifth at 133-pounds. He pinned Dan Riggi (Binghamton) at 4:31, lost 8-3 to Jordan Thome (Army), defeated Clarion's Devin Cook (7-3) and Frank Cimato (Drexel) 9-8 for fifth.
 
            Abdurakhmonov was 4-1 in finishing fifth at 165. He posted a t. fall (26-10) over Sam Sheppard
(Sacred Heart), Lost to Ross Tice (Kent) 8-6sv, then bounced back to defeat Adam Miller (C. Mich) 15-3, Alex Rinaldi (Drexel) t. fall 20-5 at 3:46 and Marshall Peppelman (Cornell) 9-2 for fifth place.
 
 
            Podish was 5-1 in taking fifth place at 197. He won a 7-0 decision over Jeff Beebe (C. Michigan), lost y t. fall (19-2) to #3 ranked Dustin Kilgore (Kent), before coming back to win by t. fall 16-0 over Mike McKeever (Binghamton), decisioned Clarion's Alex Thomas (7-1), pinned Marciej Jochym (Cornell) at 2:05 and won a 10-0 major over Cody Reed (Cornell). Podish was unseeded.
 
            White was sixth at 149-pounds wit a 3-2 record. Hw lost his opening bout 6-2 to Daniel Young (Army), defeated Nick Fitzmaurice (Binghamton) 10-3, John McDermott (Drexel) 8-4 and Marcel Clopton (Kent) 2-1 before losing 10-2 to Donnie Corby (C. Mich.).
 
            Led by fifth year head coach Teague Moore, the Eagles return to action on December 1 when the Eagles host the annual Blue-Gold meet. The PSAC Championships follow on Saturday, December 4th at Bloomsburg.
