WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mike Sherry and Paul McQueen combined to score 42 points while hitting 10 three-pointers to lead the Clarion University men's basketball team to an 83-70 win on the road over the University of the District of Columbia Monday night.
 
Sherry connected on a game-high 22 points and hit six three-pointers, both season highs and his most since scoring 24 points and hitting six three's Dec. 3, 2008. McQueen, meanwhile, who entered the game with two career three-pointers, hit 4 of 4 threes and 7 of 9 total shots while scoring 20 points, the second most his career (career high was 23 vs. Penn College Dec. 5, 2009).  The six three-pointers give Sherry 185 in his career moving him into fifth place in school history.
 
Meanwhile, Lloyd Harrison just missed his second consecutive double-double finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds with Jamar Harrison adding 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. For Lloyd Harrison, it was his 25th consecutive double-digit scoring game, while it was 18th straight double-digit game for Jamar Harrison.
 
Clarion (3-0) used a half-closing 21-4 run to erase a 21-20 deficit and take a 41-25 halftime lead. The Golden Eagles then got the lead to as many as 25 points in the second half, the last being at 65-40 with 12:25 to play, before holding off a late UDC (0-6) charge.
 
Freshman Mike Kromka chipped in eight points and five rebounds for Clarion, which shot 55.6 percent (30 of 54) from the floor, the second consecutive game Clarion, which is shooting 52.2 percent in the early going, has gone over 50 percent from the floor. The Golden Eagles were also 13 of 15 from the free-throw line and have hit 58 of their last 71 (81.7 percent) charity shots.  
 
Clarion returns to action Monday when it hosts Michigan-Dearborn.
 
NOTES – Lloyd Harrison has 25 assist in three games … Sherry's career high is 30 at Shippensburg Jan. 26, 2008. In that game he hit a career-high eight three-pointers … Clarion was 10 of 15 from three-point range, (66.7 percent) their most three's in a game since hitting 11 at Salem International Dec. 11, 2009 … McQueen was 2 of 14 in his career from beyond the arc before Monday night … Jamar Harrison now has 500 career points in just 32 games with Clarion … Sherry is at 867 career points … Lloyd Harrison has 159 career assists and 475 career points in 32 games with the Golden Eagles … Clarion is 3-0 for the first time since starting 4-0 in 2003.
