CLARION – Bud Teer recorded his second consecutive double-double to lead the Clarion University men's basketball team to an 83-58 win over Penn College of Technology Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gym.

 

Teer scored a team-high 20 points while pulling down 11 rebounds to help Clarion to its 390^th win all-time at Tippin in the 550^th Clarion men's basketball game played at the facility.

 

Jamar Harrison added 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Golden Eagles, who advanced to 6-0 for the ninth time in school history and for the first time since starting 11-0 in 1991-92.

 

Also in on the action for Clarion were Paul McQueen with 11 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two assists, Lloyd Harrison with eight points, seven assists, five steals and three rebounds, Mike Kromka with eight points and eight rebounds off the bench and Denzil Dennison, who had seven points, four assists, two steals and two rebounds in his first start of the season.

 

Leroy Joiner led all players with 24 points and 14 rebounds while chipping in four blocks, two assists and a steal for Penn College (3-5). Phillip Kaylor added 10 points.

 

Penn College stayed with Clarion for the first half of the first half and trailed by a point, 16-15, with 11:34 to go in the half. But the Golden Eagles outscored the Wildcats 31-14 in the final 11:05 of the half to take a 47-29 halftime lead.

 

Clarion then extended the lead to as many as 29 in the second half before liberally subbing for the second part of the second half.

 

The Golden Eagles are now off until they host Thiel at 2 p.m. Dec. 30.

 

NOTES – Clarion is 390-160 in its 43^rd season at Tippin … Lloyd Harrison had his fifth straight game of seven or more assists, and he has recorded at least six assists in all six of Clarion's games while averaging eight assists per game. He did see his 27-game double-digit point streak come to an end with the eight points … Jamar Harrison extended his double-digit point streak to 21 games with his 14-point effort … Teer's double-double was the eighth double-double by a Golden Eagle this season. Clarion has had at least one player record a double-double in five of the six games.
