Clarion University's NCAA Division I Wrestling program opens its 2010-11 dual meet and EWL season on Tuesday when the Golden Eagles square off against Edinboro at 7:30pm. The match will be wrestled at Ft. LeBoeuf High School in Waterford, Pa.

Rich Herman calling the play by play.
“We're looking forward to starting our dual meet season,” said Clarion's fifth year head coach Teague Moore. “We're sure this will be an exciting match – it always is against Edinboro. What a way to open the EWL dual meet season.”
Clarion won the PSAC Team Title at Bloomsburg on December 4th, with Clarion scoring 125.5 points and having three individual champions, while Edinboro was third with 109 points, missing second place by 1.5 points. The Scots also had three champions. Earlier this year the Golden Eagles wrestled at the Claron Knight Point Open, The Oklahoma Invite in Brockport, N.Y., and the Body Bar Invitational hosted by Cornell University.
Coach Teague Moore led the Golden Eagles to a 4-2 EWL dual record a year ago, an 8-8 overall dual meet slate, and third place finishes at the PSAC's and EWL's. Always wrestling an extremely competitive D-I schedule, Moore has a dual record of 33-50-1 entering the season opener.

Alex Thomas (7-3, So. Seaford, De., Sussex Tech) at 197 and
Quintas McCorkle (12-4, Jr. Alexandria, Va.) at heavyweight.
Edinboro, led by 14th year head coach Tim Flynn, enters the match with a 1-4-1 dual meet record this season. The Scots tied #23 ranked Purdue (16-16), then lost to Hofstra (26-8), defeated George Mason (34-9), and lost to #17 Virginia Tech (27-6) and #24 Virginia (25-13).
Flynn has had a tremendous career at Edinboro leading the Scots to 11 PSAC team titles, 12 EWL crowns and a dual meet record of 146-49-5.
Edinboro's lineup will feature Bijan Banks (0-6, Fr., Elkton, Md.) at 125, Alex Schulmann (0-6, Fr. Lincroft, N.J.) at 133, Kasey Davis (9-5, Fr. Meadville) at 141, #12 Torsten Gillespie (7-2, Sr., Webster, N.Y.) at 149, Johnny Greisheimer (10-5, So., Wantagh, N.Y.) at 157, Ethan Saylor (3-5, Fr., Connellsville) at 165, Chris Hrunka (7-8, Jr., Washington, N.J.) at 174, #2 Chris Honeycutt (4-0, Jr., N. Ridgeville, Oh.) at 184, Shawn Fendone (6-6, Sr., Salem, N.H.) at 197 and either Ernest James (6-6, Fr., Medford, N.Y.) or Mike Horton (8-2, so., Philipsburg) at 285.
CLARION NOTES: Clarion's 3 champs at PSAC's were Fleming at 157, Abdurakhmonoc at 165 and Thomas at 197… Edinboro's champions were Gillespie at 149, Honeycutt at 184 and Evan Yenelovich at 125 who is not wrestling … In head to head matchups this season at the PSAC's – Clarion's Fleming won 10-0 over Greisheimer in the finals at 157, Joseph won 9-5 and 7-5 over Hrunka at 174, Honeycutt majored Cressley 11-2 at 184, Thomas pinned Fendone in 51-seconds in the finals at 197 and James won 3-2 tie breaker over McCorkle in the semi's at heavyweight… Clarion leads the overall series record against Edinboro 31-22 in matches going back to 1960. In EWL matches Edinboro leads 17-5. Clarion's last win came in 1998 winning 25-16. The next year Edinboro won 23-22 and has won 12 straight against the Eagles. Last year Edinboro won 25-13. The Golden Eagles won four of the first 5 bouts and led 13-3
