(Davidson, N.C.): Clarion received pins from
Colby Pisani at 141,
Anthony White at 149,
Bekzod Abdurakhmonov at 165 and
Steven Cressley at 184 on their way to defeating Davidson 36-15 on Saturday morning.
Held at Belk Arena, the Golden Eagles were down 7-0 after
Trey Hicks lost a 4-1 decision to Matt Zarth at 125 and
Devin Cook lost a 13-4 major decision to Alex Radsky at 133.
Junior
Colby Pisani rallied the Golden Eagles at 141. Down 4-1 in the third period, Pisani used a cradle to pin Vitaly Radsky at 5:30 to bring Clarion to within 7-6.
Freshman
Anthony White gave Clarion a 12-7 lead with a fall at 4:50 over Willliam Ray. White had three takedowns in the match, and led 10-1 at the time of the fall.
Davidson's Brent Mowry won a 16-1 technical fall over
Kyle Braddock at 157. Braddock is subbing for #8 ranked
James Fleming who is out with an injury.
Clarion's
Bekzod Abdurakhmonov put the Eagles ahead for good with a pin at 4:15 over Tyler Mullen. Bekzod was ahead 9-2 with four takedowns at the time of the fall which gave Clarion an 18-12 lead.
Davidson's Don Patrick won a wild 14-10 decision over
Scott Joseph at 174, but the Eagles
Steven Cressley put the match away at 184 with a fall at 34-seconds over Ike Crews. Cressley gained a takedown, had Crews arms trapped, and put him right to his back off the takedown. The fall came quickly and Clarion led 24-15.
Clarion raised its overall record to 3-0, while Davidson dropped to 2-5. Clarion travels to North Carolina this afternoon to wrestle the Tar Heels at 3pm. The match will air on 1300 AM (WWCH) in Clarion and on redzonemedia.com on the internet.

Joe Waltko at 133 and
James Fleming at 157 will miss this weekends matches due to injury, but hope to return next weekend vs WVU and Eastern Michigan… Clarion is 3-0 vs Davidson all-time.
