CLARION – Clarion couldn't contain a hot-shooting Gannon team and saw its 11-game home win streak end with a 76-67 loss to the visiting Golden Knights Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gym.
Gannon (10-7 overall, 2-4 PSAC-West) shoot a sizzling 56.3 percent (27 of 48) for the game including 60 percent (12 of 20) in the second half led by Stephen Battle, who was 9 of 11 and scored 19 points, and Kelvin Agee, who was 7 of 11 and scored a game-high 24 points.
Clarion (12-5, 3-3), meanwhile, was cold most of the day shooting 37.7 percent. Bud Teer led the Golden Eagles with his ninth double-double of the season and his sixth in the last seven games with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Jamar Harrison added 18 points, his 32
nd straight game in double figures, and nine rebounds,
Paul McQueen had 14 points and five boards and
Lloyd Harrison 11 points, five assists and three steals.
Gannon used an 11-2 run at the end of the first half to grab a 37-29 halftime lead and then used an 18-4 run midway through the second half to take a 47-44 lead and turn it in to a 65-48 advantage with 7:09 to play. Clarion fought back got within nine, 68-59, with just over three minutes to play but could get no closer.
Battle added nine rebounds for Gannon, while Anthony Clagett had 11 points and Travis Brannen 10 points and seven rebounds.
Clarion returns to action at 8 p.m. Wednesday at California.

Mike Sherry scored three points for Clarion and needs 10 for 1,000 … Clarion's last home loss came Feb. 11, 2010, 72-60, to California. The Golden Eagles are still 21-3 at Tippin Gym over the last two seasons.
