            (Clarion, PA.): Clarion University's Bekzod Abdurakhmonov went 4-1 and placed third at the National Collegiate Open wrestling tournament hosted at Clarion's Rec Center on Saturday, February 19.

 

            Abdurakhmonov raised his season record to 27-8 with his third place showing. In the championship bracket at 165 Bekzod opened with a 10-1 major decision over Chris Moon (Va. Tech), then major decisioned Ethan Smith (Purdue) 8-0 before losing by fall at 6:22 to Nick Sulzer of Virginia. Bekzod was ahead before the fall. He bounced back to defeat Moon again 8-1 and then defeated Cade Blair (ODU) 8-00 for third place.

 

            Clarion will wrestle at Lock Haven on Sunday at 3pm. The match can be heard on C-93 FM in Clarion and on the internet at www.redzonemedia.com.
