BOX SCORE
(Mount Olive, N.C.): The Clarion University baseball team received two hits apiece from 
Matt Rossi and Ken Morgan, but is wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles dropped a 17-4 decision to #7 ranked Mount Olive on Monday at Scarborough Field.
 
 
            Clarion, currently in North Carolina as part of their Spring Baseball trip, dropped their season record to 0-3 while Mount Olive raised their mark to 17-3.
 
            Clarion opened the scoring in the second inning scoring three runs to take an early 3-0 lead. 
Ken Morgan singled, 
Bill Hasson was hit by a pitch and 
Jordan LaBue was safe on a sac bunt to load the bases. 
Chad White delivered a one-out double to score Morgan and Hasson, and then 
Josh Beimel scored LaBue on a sacrifice fly to give Clarion a 3-0 lead.
 
 
            Mount Olive rallied back off starter and loser 
Brandon Slater with two runs in the third and then seven in the fourth that also had two runs scored off reliever 
Jon Roncolato.
 
 
            The Golden Eagles scored in the fifth when 
Matt Rossi singled, Morgan singled and Rossi eventually scored on a wild pitch to pull the Eagles to within 9-4.
 
 
            Mount Olive scored seven in the fifth and one in the sixth to complete the scoring.
 
            Rossi and Morgan led the offense going 2 for 4. Slater took the loss as five Eagles took a turn on the mound. 
Seth Peterson tossed the final two innings of scoreless ball.
 
 
            Clarion travels to St. Andrews Presbyterian for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
