FINAL RESULTS
(Clarion, Pa.): Clarion's had six individual winners and honored seven seniors in pre-match ceremonies on Saturday as the Golden Eagles defeated Bloomsburg 153-140 in Men's Swimming and Diving action at Tippin Natatorium.
Event winners in the pool included
Ben Appleby (York/Suburban), Matthew Bojalad (Dubois), Joe Ward (Johnstown/Westmont hilltop) and Joe Welch (Erie/Strong Vincent).
Appleby won the 200 free with a time of 1:49.24, with Bojalad taking the 50 free (21.87), Ward the 100 free (48.91) and Welch the 100 butterfly (53.49).
Justin Duncan (South Park) and Heath Calhoun (Jr. Renfrew/Butler) won the diving events. Duncan took the one meter diving with a score of 303.85, and Calhoun won the three meter event with 327.75 points.
Clarion also won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:34.34 which was swum by
Jacob Nicolella (Fr. Washington/Bishop Canevin), Derek Nelson (Jr. Mount Joy/Donegal), Royce Tipper (Jr. Coraopolis/Cornell) and Ward. The 400 free relay team of
Casey Dunleavy (Sr. McMurray/Petyers Twp.), Appleby, Bojalad and Ward won with a time of 3:14.35.
The win boosts the men's record to 2-1 on the season. The men are also off until Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 when they travel to Akron to swim and dive at the Zippy Invitational.
