CLARION LOSES 48-13 TO EDINBORO

                (Clarion, Pa.): Edinboro qb Cody Harris passed for 460 yards and 5 td's leading Edinboro to a 48-13 win at Clarion's Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

                The loss put Clarion at 4-6 on the season and 2-5 in the PSAC-Western Division, while Edinboro moved up to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the West with one week remaining in the regular season.

                Clarion qb Ben Fiscus led the Clarion offense completing 17 of 32 passes for 209 yards and 1 td and rushed for 82 yards and 1 td. Freshman running back Chris Liberto (Springdale) led all runners with 90 yards on 25 carries, plus caught 1 pas for 7 yards.

                Edinboro totaled 577 yards of offense on the day, with Harris hitting 25 of 33 passes for 460 yadr and 5 td;s, plus ran for 14 yadrs and 1 td.

                The Fighting Scots drove 56-yards on 7 plays in the first quarter and scored on a 28-yard pass from Harris to Kevin Sonnie to take a 7-0 lead at 5:29

                Clarion came back to tie the game with one-second left in the first quarter when Ben Fiscus found Anthony Becoate across the middle and the tight end rumbled into the endzone for the score. Nathan Conway's PAT made it 7-7.

                Edinboro answered with three, second quarter td's to pull away to a 27-7 halftime advantage. Harris hit Marcus Johnson on the first play after Clarion's td, behind the secondary, on a perfectly executed fly pattern for a 62-yard td pass for a 13-7 lead at 14:53.

                Converted outside linebacker Jeremy Donaldson ran in from 3-yards out capping an 80-yard drive at 3:43 of the second for a 20-7 lead, then with time running out before halftime, Harris hit tight end Shawn Walker in the back of the endzone on a 3-yard td pass and a 27-7 lead with 5 seconds left before intermission.

                Edinboro drove 93 yards for it snext score, following a Ben Fiscus fumble at the Edinboro 6 yard line. The boro drive ended with Harrris hitting Ben easel on an 11-yard td pass and a 34-7 lead.

                Harris scored on a 5-yard run at 1:44 of the third quarter for a 41-7 lead, before Clarion scored its final points.

                Clarion drove 62-yards and scored on an outstanding run by Eagle qb Ben Fiscus. From the Boro 28 Fiscus ran into the secondary, changed directions at least twice, then broke down the left sideline for the score making it 41-13.

                Edinboro scored its final points on a 59-yard pass from Harris to Devin Ghafoor at 9:12 of the fourth quarter.

                Clarion totaled 398 yards of offense, but again found itself failing to score from deep inside enemy territory. The Eagles had five possessions that went to the Edinboro 31 or farther without scoring.

                Clarion rushed for 190 and passed for 213 on the day. Anthony Becoate led the receivers with 5 catches for 36 yards and 1 td, while Nick Perry caught 4 for 70 and Aaron Barlow had 3 catches for 61 yards.

                Brian Palmiere led the defense with 9 tackles and 1 tfl, while Matt Long had 7 stops along with Jacob Heintz.

                Edinboro had 577 yards of offense. Ben Eisel caught 9 pases for 110 yards and 1 td, while Marcus Johnson had 4 grabs for 143 yards and 1 td – 35.7 yards per catch.

                Clarion ends the 2012 season next Saturday at Memorial Stadium when the Golden eagles host West Chester at 1pm on Senior Day.
