CLARION FALLS TO EDINBORO

Bud Teer had his third straight double-double

Box Score CLARION – Clarion's playoff hopes took a hit Saturday night when the Golden Eagles dropped an 83-63 decision to visiting Edinboro on Senior Night at Tippin Gym.

With the loss, Clarion (15-11 overall, 11-9 PSAC West) is now a game back of California for the fourth and final PSAC playoff spot awarded to the PSAC West. The Golden Eagles are in a tie with Gannon for fifth place and will in most likely hood need to win their last two games, have Cal lose its final two games and Gannon lose once to qualify for the postseason. Clarion is at California Wednesday before finishing the season on the road Saturday at Slippery Rock.

On Saturday, Edinboro (12-12, 10-10) broke open an eight-point halftime lead, 43-35, by going on a 27-3 run at the start of the second half. Clarion went over 10 minutes without scoring a field goal in the half after a Paul McQueen layup in the first minute of the half got the Golden Eagles to within six at 43-37. By the time Leonard Patterson hit a jumper with 8:33 to play, Clarion trailed 71-44.

Bud Teer led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and 13 rebounds, his third straight double-double and his fourth in the past six games. In the process he surpassed the 500-rebound mark (508) and joins Paul McQueen (638) as the first Clarion teammates to each have 500 rebounds at the same time since David Shearer and Allen Stevens in 2002.

McQueen, playing in his final home game of a solid Clarion career that has seen him also score over 1,000 points, added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Patterson had 14 points and five rebounds.

Isaiah Prince led Edinboro with 23 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jay Fletcher added 19 points, while Sam Moore had 14 points and six rebounds off the bench and Cory Somerville 10 points.

Clarion's game at Cal Wednesday will be a 7:30 p.m. start.
