MCQUEEN BECOMES 2ND PLAYER UNDER RIGHTER WITH 1,100 PTS; 650 REB IN LOSS AT SRU

Paul McQueen finishes his career with 1,100 points, 652 rebounds

Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK – On Saturday, senior forward Paul McQueen wrapped up a solid career by becoming just the second player in Clarion University men's basketball coach Ron Righter's 24 years with the Golden Eagles to record at least 1,100 career points and 650 career rebounds in a 87-66 season-ending loss at Slippery Rock.
 
McQueen had 17 points and six rebounds in the game giving him exactly 1,100 point and 652 rebounds in his career. He joins David Shearer (1,248 points, 794 rebounds) as the only Golden Eagles under Righter with 1,100 points and 650 rebounds.
 
On Saturday, Clarion (15-13 overall, 11-11 PSAC West), which was playing without leading rebounder Bud Teer (injury), also got 11 points from freshman Winfield Willis and 10 tallies from Calvin Edwards. Willis finished the year with 446 points, the second most by a freshman in school history.
 
Slippery Rock (17-9, 14-8), which led 44-32 at halftime thanks to a half-ending 26-12 run, got 18 points and 13 rebounds from Devin Taylor, 15 points from Torrance Timothy, 14  from Tommy Kelly and 11 points and seven assists from Aubin Reeves. Luiz Santos added 10 rebounds and seven points.
 
NOTES – It was the 13th 15th win season for Clarion in the last 16 years … Some highlights from the season included McQueen scoring his 1,000th career points, Righter winning his 400th career game, Teer grabbing his 500th rebound to join McQueen as the first Clarion teammates with 500 boards each since 2002 and Teer recording his 23rd career double-double, the most by a Clarion player in nearly 30 years.
