GRAPPLERS HOST CSU SAT/AT PRINCETON SUNDAY

            Clarion University's NCAA Division I Wrestling team, coming off a big 22-18 win at Bloomsburg last Friday,  returns to W.S. Tippin Gym on Saturday afternoon to host EWL rival Cleveland State at 1p.m.
 
The Golden Eagles will hit the road after the match and wrestle at Princeton on Sunday at 1pm, then wrestle Franklin & Marshall at 2:30 p.m. before returning to Clarion.
 
            Clarion's matchup against Cleveland State and Princeton can be heard locally on C-93 (92.7; WCCR-FM) in Clarion. Both will be on the internet at redzonemedia.com with Rich Herman doing the play by play.
 
            The Golden Eagles, under first year head coach Matt Dernlan, are 2-6 on the season and 1-3 in the Eastern Wrestling League. Clarion opened the year traveling to #8 Lehigh losing 27-12, and also 34-13 to #7 Illinois. In its lone home match to date, Clarion lost 37-12 to #21 Edinboro. The Golden Eagles defeated Indiana Tech 46-3 and lost 25-12 to Eastern Michigan at the EMU Duals, then lost a 28-10 decision at #9 Pitt and a 23-20 decision to West Virginia 23-20 in the final bout. Last Friday, at Bloomsburg, the Golden Eagles toppled the Huskies 22-18 winning 6 bouts.
 
            Clarion's lineup this weekend will likely be Trey Hicks (5-15; Jr. Amityville, N.Y.) at 125; Joe Waltko (11-13; Jr. Allison Park, Pa.) at 133; Tyler Bedelyon (12-13; So. Lewistown) at 141; Cameron Moran (11-12, Sr. James City) at 149; #4 James Fleming (19-2; Jr. West Mifflin) at 157; #5 Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (23-4, Sr. Tashkent, Uzbekistan) at 165; Nick Milano (5-12, So. Erie) at 174; Steven Cressley (12-10; Jr. Punxsutawney) at 184; Alex Thomas (18-13; Jr. Seaford, De.) at 197 and Quintas McCorkle (19-10, Sr. Alexandria, Va.) at hwt.
 
            Cleveland State, under 4th year head coach Ben Stehura, enters the dual on Saturday with a 6-12 overall record and an 0-4 mark in the EWL. The Vikings have posted big wins against the Citadel (22-12), John Carroll (29-9), George Mason (25-12) and VMI (22-15). EWL losses are to Pitt (33-9), Edinboro (40-0), Lock Haven (28-9) and Bloomsburg (34-7).
 
            The Vikings lineup will likely have Ben Willeford (16-14) at 125, Nick Flannery (20-11) at 133, Josh Palivoda (15-15) at 141, Lawrence Cavello (3-10) or Mike Mencini (5-8) at 149, Tanner Lemon (4-12) at 157, Corey Carlo (7-9) at 165, Koort Leyrer (11-14) at 174, Corbin Boone (4-16) or Bobby Blankenship (4-13) at 184, Nick Anthony (4-18) at 197 and Rock Davis (3-17) at heavyweight.
 
            Princeton, led by 6th year head coach Chris Ayres, enters the Clarion dual with a 6-10 dual meet record. The Tigers are led by two ranked wrestlers including #11 Adam Krop (26-6) at 141 and #9 Daniel Kolodzik (26-7) at 157. Princeton has significant wins against Old Dominion (18-14) and Harvard (25-14), with losses to Rider (29-10), Wisconsin (29-9), Rutgers (29-7) and Cornell (30-9).
 
            Princeton's starting lineup will have Ryan Cash (1-2) at 125, Joe DeQuinzio (5-2) at 133, #11 Adam Krop (26-6) at 141, Zach Bintliff (14-12) at 149, #9 Daniel Kolodzik (26-7) at 157, Rich Eva (7-18) at 165, Andy Lowy (17-9) at 174, Dan Santoro (16-17) at 184, Kurt Brendel (16-19) at 197 and Charles Fox (2-7) at 285.
 
            Franklin & Marshall is coached by Mike Rogers, who is in his second season as head coach, and has led the Diplomats to a 2-12 record.  F&M has wins over Sacred Heart (36-15) and Gettysburg (29-16). Losses have come against Bloomsburg (27-10), WVU (41-0), Maryland (39-3), Harvard (29-12), Columbia (32-12) and Rider (35-6).
 
            The F&M lineup will be Dave Hershberger (7-20) at 125, Robert Ruiz (10-17) at 133, Richard Durso (25-10) at 141, Andrew Murano (5-14) at 149, Eric Norgard (6-20) at 157, 165 – no entry; Matt Fullowan (14-13() at 174, Matt Latessa (8-14) at 184, Colin Ely (14-14) or Isiah Cromwell (10-8) at 197 and Alex Henry (4-18) at 285.
