Clarion raised its overall record to 2-2 and is now 1-1 in the PSAC-West, while Gannon drops to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the Western Division.

“This was a big win for us,” said seventh year head coach Jay Foster. “Our defense played great – and really pitched a shutout. We made the key plays when we had to on both sides of the ball – it feels great to win a close one like this. Hopefully we can use this momentum to our advantage.”

Fiscus had a big night for the Golden Eagles. Down 7-0 in the first quarter, Fiscus tossed an 11-yard td pass to tight end Mike Deitrick to tie the game 7-7 with 2:10 left in the first quarter. The Golden Eagles drove 64-yards in 10 plays to hit paydirt. On the td play, Clarion had third and goal at the 11-yard line, Fiscus rolled left, reversed his field back to the right and found Deitrick alone in the right corner.

Later, in the second quarter, Clarion took over on the Gannon 28 after an 11 yard Golden Knight punt.  A Gannon penalty kept the Clarion drive alive – and then Fiscus took over. On second and 8 from the Gannon 17, Fiscus rolled right, couldn't find a receiver, reversed his field to the  left and spotted a wide open Nick Perry in the left corner of the endzone for the Clarion td. The PAT failed, but Clarion led 13-7 with only 44-seconds left before intermission.

Gannon took its first possession of the third quarter and drove to the Clarion 15. On fourth at 3 at the 15, Gannon tried a trick play, shifting the line to the left, leaving a center, backup qb Gabe Hernandez and a running back. Hernandez took the snap, but Eagle linebacker Nate Sipes was right on the play and tackled Hernandez for a 1-yard loss ending the threat.

In the fourth quarter Clarion's defense again rose to the occasion stopping the Knights after getting the ball with a first and ten on the Clarion 40.

Clarion took over at its own 18 with 4:21 left on the clock – enter Fiscus again. On third and 10 at the 18, Fiscus bolted for 22 yards to the 40 and a key first down. Then, with Gannon using al their timeouts, Fiscus again came to the line with a third and 7 at the Eagle 43. Fiscus faked the handoff on the read option, and turned upfield for 7 yards and a first down to run out the clock and win the game.

Gannon got on the board in the first quarter when a pass from Fiscus was deflected downfield, and Tashawn Sneed grabbed the pigskin at the Gannon 38 and returned the bal 62 yards for a td.
