VOLLEYBALL DROPS 3-0 DECISION AT NO. 24 WHEELING JESUIT

Hannah Heeter led Clarion with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage

Box Score WHEELING, W. Va. – The Clarion University women's volleyball team saw its nine-match win streak end Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss at No. 24 Wheeling Jesuit.
 
The Golden Eagles (23-2) lost by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-20.
 
Hannah Heeter led Clarion with 11 kills and a block while hitting .429 (11 kills, 2 errors, 21 attempts), but she was the lone bright spot in a Clarion attack that was held to a season-low .105 attack percentage (34-23-105). Emily Stewart chipped in 10 kills and six digs, while Corinne Manley had six kills and a block. Laura Subject added 31 set assists and three dig with Morgan Seybold leading the defense with 15 digs.
 
Wheeling Jesuit (20-3), the defending NCAA Division II Atlantic champions, had three players with 10 kills each – Kayce Krucki, Haley Kindall and Jenna Pew. Krucki added nine digs and hit .364, while Kindall hit .333 and Pew .250 helping the Cardinals hit .262 (42-15-103) as a team, the highest opponent hitting percentage against the Golden Eagles this season and just the second Clarion opponent to hit .200 or better. Pew added 17 set assists, while Madison Strall had 16 assists and eight digs and Mackenzie Ripley had 13 digs.
 
Clarion was right in the first set halfway through the set leading 10-9 before Wheeling Jesuit took control with 11 of the next 15 points.
 
In the second set, the Golden Eagles once again held a lead, 10-8, near the halfway point before falling behind 17-12. Clarion rallied within three a couple of times, the latest at 22-19, but never got closer.
 
The final set saw the Golden Eagles lead as late as 16-15 and be tied at 18 before a match-ending 7-2 run by the Cardinals.
 
Clarion returns to action at 7 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Edinboro in its first home PSAC West match.
