SOCCER FALLS TO EDINBORO 3-1

Harsch scored the only Clarion goal in the 90th minute.

Box Score EDINBORO, Pa. – Despite a late goal by Casey Harsch, the Clarion University women's soccer team fell to Edinboro 3-1 Tuesday evening.
 
"That was as good as we played all season," said Clarion head coach Rob Eaton.  "We played much better in the second half and had a lot more chances but we just lost to a very good team"
 
Edinboro got things started in the in the 34th minute when Becca Costello gave the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead.  Less than three minutes later, Alex Brown found the back of the net to extend the Edinboro lead to 2-0.
 
Clarion recorded only one shot in the opening half.
 
In the second half, the Golden Eagles put more pressure on Edinboro goalkeeper Meghan Kelly.  Alexa Stubenrauch hit the crossbar in the first minute in the second half in attempt to cut the lead to one. 
 
Once again in the 70th minute the Golden Eagles came close to getting on the board.  Alexa Ream hit the crossbar and then Nikita Bonnell's shot hit the post a minute later and the lead still was in favor of Edinboro 2-0.
 
But in the 82nd minute, Liz Debo was able to sneak it past Laura Saussol to make it 3-0.  The Golden Eagles were able to get on the board in the 90th minute when Casey Harsch found the back of the net from 15 yards out.
 
"We were able to make some adjustment's heading into the second half," said Eaton.  "We played very well in the second half and it looked like we were in position to get ourselves back in the game."
 
 Edinboro (8-3, 6-3 PSAC) outshot Clarion 20-9 in the match. 
 
Saussol picked up six saves in goal for the Golden Eagles.  Both Stephanie Sikora and Harsch finished with two shots to lead Clarion while Alissa Spencer, Alyssa Liebdzinski, Alexa Stubenrauch, Ream, and Bonnell all added one each.
 
"Casey (Harsch) scored a spectacular goal for us to close out the game," said Eaton.  "It was nice for us to close out the game on a high note."
 
The Golden Eagles (3-5-3, 3-5-3 PSAC) return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday where they will face Alfred State in a non-conference match.
