Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Clarion shot as cold as the weather in an 86-57 loss to Mansfield Wednesday night at Tippin Gym.
The Golden Eagles shot 29.2 percent from the field (19 of 65), while Mansfield was heating it up shooting 48.5 percent (33 of 68).
The Mountaineers (2-8) led 48-26 at halftime and were never threatened in the second half.
Mike Kromka led Clarion with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists, while
Aaron Johnson, making his first start of the season in place of the injured
Darius Stevens, had 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
DeMarius Miller, coming off consecutive 30-plus-point contests, added 12 points.
Joe Bell led four Mansfield players in double digits with 22 points while adding six rebounds and five assists. Xavier Warner chipped in with 18 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three helpers with Charles Pemberton recording a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds and Onyema Utti adding 16 points and five rebounds.
Mansfield opened the game up early, outscoring Clarion 31-11 in the contest's first 12 minutes and got the lead to as many as 34, 79-45, in the second half.
Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lock Haven.
