Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – In the first non-conference game between Clarion and Lock Haven in 80 years, the visiting Golden Eagles shooting woes continued in a 93-62 loss to the Bald Eagles.
Clarion (2-6) shot 29.4 percent (20 of 68) from the field, the second straight game the Golden Eagles have been under 30 percent.
Lock Haven (5-4), meanwhile, shot 54 percent including a blistering 19 of 30 in the second half helping the Bald Eagles take a 10-point halftime lead, 38-28, and turn the game into a blowout.
Clarion led 24-23 with just under nine minutes to play in the first half before Lock Haven finished the half on a 15-4 run. The Bald Eagles then started the second half on a 10-0 spurt to put the game away.
Mike Kromka led Clarion, which played without
Darius Stevens for the second straight game, with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
BJ Andrews added 14 points and five board and
DeMarius Miller had 12 points. The three combined for 55 of Clarion's 62 points.
Kasheef Festus paced Lock Haven with 17 points and eight rebounds, Elijah Cooper added 13 points and Bootise Walker 11. Five other Bald Eagles had between eight and nine tallies.
Clarion, losers of three straight, are off until 3 p.m. Jan. 3 when it plays at Bloomsburg.
NOTES – It marked the first non-conference regular-season game between Clarion and Lock Haven since a Clarion win in the 1934 season. The teams met 114 times as PSAC West foes from 1952 through last season. Lock Haven moved from the PSAC West to the PSAC East this year. Clarion was 85-39 in conference play vs. the Bald Eagles and 1-0 in the postseason during that stretch. The Golden Eagles had won 14 of the final 16 PSAC West games between the teams.
