GOLDEN EAGLES DROP CLOSE DECISION AT LOCK HAVEN

Mike Kromka had 16 points to lead Clarion

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven used a game-ending 12-3 run to knock off visiting Clarion 75-68 in PSAC West men's basketball action Wednesday night at Thomas Fieldhouse in Lock Haven.
 
The Golden Eagles led 65-63 following an Evan Battle jumper with 5:08 to play before Lock Haven answered with a 10-0 spurt to take the lead for good. The game-ending run included the Bald Eagles going 6 of 6 from the line in the final 1:39.
 
Clarion led by two, 36-34, at halftime and built the lead to as many as seven, 53-46, in the second half before hitting just one field goal, a Marques Jones three with 28 seconds left, in the final 5:08.
 
Junior Mike Kromka, who earlier in the day was named a Capital One/CoSIDA second-team Academic All-American, led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and four rebounds leaving him two boards shy of 500 in his career.
 
Leonard Patterson chipped in 14 points and Battle 10 for the Golden Eagles.
 
Wali Hepburn led Lock Haven with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Kasheef Festus had 10 points and 10 boards, Armandi Marshall 15 points and Elijah Copper 11 tallies.
 
Clarion actually shot above its season average hitting 27 of 63 shots (42.9 percent), but the Golden Eagles, who came into the game averaging 6.1 three-pointers were game were just 3 of 18 from long range.
 
The Golden Eagles also forced 18 Lock Haven turnovers converting them into 15 points, but Lock Haven outrebounded Clarion 43-28.
 
Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday at Edinboro.
 
NOTES – The 68 points were the most in a road game for Clarion since scoring 73 in 77-73 loss to Mansfield Jan. 11 … It was Clarion's first loss in the last eight tries vs. Lock Haven.
