CLARION HOSTS OHIO U FRI/AT CSU SUNDAY

                (Clarion, Pa.):  First year Clarion head coach Troy Letters and the 2013 Golden Eagle wrestling team have another busy weekend coming up as Clarion hosts Ohio University on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7pm, then travel to Cleveland on Sunday to battle Cleveland State at 1pm.
 
                The game will also serve as Eagle Nation T-Shirt Night. The first 300 Clarion students attending with a valid ID will receive a free Eagle Nation T-shirt.
 
Friday's matchup against Ohio University is set to begin at 7pm and Sunday's dual is set to start at 1pm, with both broadcasts airing locally on WCCR-FM (92.7) and on the internet at redzonemedia.com with Rich Herman and John Stroup calling the action.
 
                The Golden Eagles are 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the EWL under coach Letters. Last weekend the Golden Eagles defeated Lock Haven 18-16, and lost to #14 Bloomsburg 21-9. During the season Clarion has posted wins against Eastern Michigan (21-10) and Michigan State (25-16), while losses have come against #28 Kent state (29-10), North Carolina (21-19), #20 Edinboro (28-12), #10 Northwestern (26-9), #13 Pitt (26-15) and #18 Rutgers (26-6). The Golden Eagles also placed second at the PSAC's championships in December.
 
                The Golden Eagles lineup for the weekend will feature - #4 ranked James Fleming (Sr. West Mifflin) at 157-pounds. The Golden Eagle senior has a season record of 24-2 and a career record of 116-18 – tied for 12th on the all-time win list at Clarion with Kurt Angle (1988-92) who was Clarion's former 2-time NCAA Champion and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist with a career record of 116-10-2.
 
The Clarion lineup will likely have Tyler Fraley (Fr. 10-9; Freehold, N.J) at 125; Joe Waltko (Sr. 11-15; Allison Park) at 133; Devin Cook (Jr. 8-9; Bedford) or Sam Sherlock (So. 9-7; West Mifflin) at 141; Tyler Bedelyon  (Jr. 15-10; Lewistown) at 149; #4 ranked James Fleming (Sr. 24-2; West Mifflin)  at 157; Nick Milano (Jr. 3-13; Erie, Pa.) at 165; Ryan Darch (So. 7-12; Batavia, N.Y.) at 174; Steven Cressley (Sr. 7-15; Punxsutawney) at 184; Justin Ortega (Gr. 14-11; Oxford) at 197 and Phil Catrucco (Sr. 17-16; Sharpsville) at 285.
 
                Ohio University, led by 16th year head coach Joel Greenlee, brings the Bobcats to Tippin Gym with an overall record of 6-5 qand a MAC record of 3-2. Key wins have come against Eastern Michigan (17-16), Northern Illinois (32-13), Buffalo (26-13) and Michigan State (22-16). Losses have come against Bloomsburg (24-9), Kent State (26-11), Central Michigan (23-12) and Virginia (34-6).
 
                Ohio University has two ranked wrestlers in their lineup including #16 Cody Walters (27-2) at 174 and #15 Jeremy Johnson (25-8) at heavyweight.  Other starters include Kevon Powell (3-9) at 125, Joe Munos (3-9) at 133, Kagan Squire (12-13) at 141, Andrew Romanchik (10-9) at 149, Spartak Chino (17-10) at 157, Harrison Hightower (17-14) at 165, Ryan Garringer (15-13) at 184 and Phillip Wellington (17-11) at 197.
 
                Cleveland State, under  fifth year head coach Ben Stehura, is 3-6 overall and 0-4 in the EWL. The Vikings have wins  over john Carroll (31-9), George Mason (20-15) and UT Chattanooga (21-17), with key losses against Pitt (38-6), Lock Haven (19-17), Edinboro (37-3) and Bloomsburg (29-6).
 
                Cleveland State's lineup will have Ben Willeford (19-12) at 125, Michael Carlone (14-10) at 133, Nick Flannery (8-10) at 141, R.J. LaBeef (7-8) at 149, Matt Donohoe (14-13) at 157, Corey Carlo (11-15) at 165, Xavier Dye (9-11) at 174, Robert Blankenship (3-14) at 184, Nick Anthony (5-10) at 197 and Riley Shaw (14-13) at 285.
 
                CLARION NOTES:  Clarion is 2-4-1 in the series against Ohio University … Last year's match was postponed … the previous match in the 2011 season saw Ohio u win 28-18 …  The two teams tied in 2005 16-16 … Clarion's last win came in 1998 with a 21-15 victory… Clarion leads the series against Cleveland state 25-14 overall and in the EWL Clarion also leads by a margin of 23-12 … Last year Clarion has won 5 straight against CSU, winning last year 45-5.
