KUTZTOWN GOLDEN BEARS DEFEAT CLARION SOCCER 4-0 AT CLARION'S MEMORIAL STADIUM.

CLARION, Pa.- The Clarion Golden Eagles Soccer team fell 4-0 to Kutztown Tuesday night at Clarion's Memorial Stadium.

Sam Costello had herself a night in Clarion for the Kutztown Golden Bears. She put the ball passed Laura Saussol on her team's first three shots of the night, grabbing herself a natural hat-trick. Her goals came in the 15th, 26th, and 35th minutes of the game. Sam Busillo assisted her first goal while Logan Kramer assisted her third. Costello's second goal came unassisted.

"I didn't realize she had a hat trick, she's a good player though, very strong. It's one of those days," said Clarion Head Coach Sean Esterhuizen after the game.

Kutztown's fourth goal of the night came in the 59th minute of the game off the foot of Rubi Mink. Her goal came unassisted.

Kutztown's shots were quality over quantity in the first half getting only five off. The Golden Bears finished with 17 shots by the end of the night. The Golden Eagles managed only one shot in the game, not on goal. The attempt was by Autumn Rosenberg in the first half.

Saussol was replaced by Taylor Donia in the 69th minute of the ball game. Saussol saved five shots and allowed four goals. Donia had one save on one attempt.

"Saussol is a senior, this is her year. Our mission is to win the last three games and to have a respectable record at the end of the year, so we will play our strongest lineup," stated Esterhuizen. He continued, "This was a game we were down three goals, it's time to get players into the game that don't usually play."

With the loss the Golden Eagles drop their record to 3-9-1 (10 points) on the year and have been mathematically eliminated from PSAC playoff contention. Kutztown moved their overall record to 9-3 and their PSAC record to 8-3 (24 points) with the victory.

"I can't be upset with my girls. What I love about my team is they never quit. They continue even in the dying moments of the games, they continue to get goal side, to mark up and do all the little fundamental things right," finished Esterhuizen.

The Golden Eagles next match is this Saturday as the team travels to Indiana (Pa.) for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff with the Crimson Hawks. The team returns home for their final game of the season on 11/1 when the Gannon Golden Knights visit for a 7 p.m. start time at Memorial Stadium.
