CLARION, Pa. - The Clarion Golden Eagles women's soccer team fell late Friday afternoon 2-0 to the Edinboro Fighting Scots in a mild rain storm.
Laura Saussol played big in net to keep the Golden Eagles in the game, however, the Fighting Scots were able to get two of their 13 shots on goal past her. The first Edinboro goal came off a corner kick by Jansen Hartman in the 8
th minute of the game. The ball bounced around inside the wet box finding the feet of Edinboro's Grace Kereky and Alex Brown, before the feet of the eventual goal scorer Ashley DeVito. Edinboro's 2
nd goal came unassisted off the foot of Hartman in the 80
th minute after she shook off a Clarion defender.
The Golden Eagles chose the strategy quality shots over quantity as four of the five team shots were put on goal.
Anna Chamberlin led the team with two shots on goal.
Casey Harsch and
Stephanie Lias had the other two. In net, Saussol stopped 11 shots on goal before she was replaced by
Taylor Donia in the late stages of the 2
nd half.
The Golden Eagles get right back to action Saturday at home against the Mansfield Mountaineers with another 2 p.m. start time at Memorial Field.
