            (CLARION, PA.):  Winners of the Art & Athletics competition were announced on Saturday, December 6  at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium and they are – Bekah Alviani (Clarion, Pa.) "Best In Show", Bridget Holohan (Orwigsburg, Pa.)  "Best 2-Dimensional", Ashley Couser (Punxsutawney) "Best 3-Dimensional" and Scott Courtney (Clarion) "Best Photography.
 
 

           The Art & Athletics Competition was a joint venture sponsored by the Clarion University Athletic Department and the Department of Art.
 
            The competition was open to all artists including faculty, staff and students at Clarion University, along with any member of the Clarion Area community. All framed, photography, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, inspired by Clarion University Athletics, were submitted for judging to Professor James Rose by November 20.
 
Thirty-Five (35) entries were received and set up for exhibition starting December 3 in Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium. Works were viewed and judged by popular vote through December 6.
 
            Professor Rose, along with Bekah Alviani and Scott Courtney coordinated the event.
 
            Bekah Alviani – Senior, Graphic Design major. Minor in Marketing and Art history. From Clarion, Pa. and a graduate of Clarion High School. $100 gift certificate to Clarion Bookstore.
 
            Bridget Holohan – Junior, Speech Pathology major. From Orwigsburg, Pa. and  Nativity B.V.M. High School. $75 gift certificate to Clarion Bookstore.
 
            Ashley Couser – Junior, Graphic Design major. From Punxsutawney, Pa. and Punxsutawney High School. $75 gift certificate to Clarion Bookstore.
 
 
            Scott Courtney – The Events and Promotions Coordinator for Athletics at Clarion University. A native of Atlantic, Pa. and a graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. A 1994 Clarion grad majoring in Liberal Studies. $75 gift certificate to Clarion Bookstore.
 
            CLARION NOTES: This was the second A&A venture … The first was concluded in December of 2011 and had three winners…. It had 57 entries.
