WOMEN'S BBALL FALLS AT WEST CHESTER

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Despite a game-high 22 points from Tania Holmes, the Clarion University women's basketball team dropped a 91-68 PSAC Crossover decision at West Chester Saturday.

Holmes buried 8 of 15 shots including 4 of 9 3-pointers while also going 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Cara Cook added 11 point for the Golden Eagles (1-9 overall, 0-6 PSAC West).

But all five West Chester starters reached double digits led by 21 points from Dallas Ely, who also had five rebounds. Jasmen Clark added 17 points and six assists, while Chikish Steele-Hook added 14 points and seven rebounds. Brittany Sicinski chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, and Anna Kuntz had 10 points and nine rebounds.

West Chester shot a blistering 56.1 percent (37 of 66) from the field including 7 of 16 from 3-point range to Clarion's 43.9 percent (25 of 57) from the field.

The Golden Rams also outrebounded Clarion, who was playing without leading rebounder Hannah Heeter for the second straight game due to an injury, 40-30.

Delrika Jones-Carey led Clarion on the boards with eight, while Jasmine Boyd had six.

West Chester built a 54-29 halftime lead before Clarion outscored the Rams 39-37 in the second half.

Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Dec. 31 at Lake Erie.
