CLARION, Pa. - The Clarion University men's basketball team returns home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to face PSAC West rival California (Pa.).
The Golden Eagles enter the game 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West, while the Vulcans are 6-2 and 2-1 in conference play.
Clarion is coming off a 68-54 loss at Gannon Wednesday night, while Cal topped Pitt-Johnstown 74-65 at home. This is the 177th meeting between the schools since 1927 with Cal holding a 92-84 advantage but Clarion leading in PSAC play, 74-72.
The Golden Eagles enter the game sixth in the NCAA Division II with 13.2 steals per game, the top mark in the PSAC, while sophomore guard
BJ Andrews is fifth in the PSAC with 2.4 steals per game. Thanks to the steals, the Golden Eagles have forced at least 23 turnovers four times this year including at least 25 three times.
After Saturday, Clarion is off until Dec. 16 when it hosts Bloomsburg at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles will then host East Stroudsburg at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 in the final home game until Shippensburg comes to down Jan. 7.
