COLD SHOOTING HURTS MEN'S BBALL IN LOSS TO SETON HILL

GREENSBURG, Pa. - A poor shooting game was too much for the Clarion University men's basketball team to overcome, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 79-57 decision at Seton Hill Saturday afternoon.

Clarion (6-7 overall, 4-6 PSAC West) shot just 28.2 percent (20 of 71) from the floor including 7 of 35 in the opening 20 minutes and trailed 42-17 at halftime.

Seton Hill (4-10, 3-7), which shot 50 percent (15 of 30) in the first half and 49.2 percent (29 of 59) for the game, continued to roll in the first 10 minutes of the second half getting its lead to as many as 35, 61-26, with 12:19 to play.

The Griffins still led by 35, 72-37, with 6:46 to go before Clarion fought back going on a 18-2 run over the next five minutes to close within 19, 74-55, with 1:42 to play.  Darius Stevens and Aaron Johnson each had five points during the run.

Johnson led Clarion with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Stevens had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Cameron Grumley added 10 points for Clarion.

Kameron Taylor paced Seton Hill with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Spencer Casson had 18 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocked shots, while Tyler Bowling chipped in with 10 points.

Clarion led 7-6 three minutes into the game before going over seven minutes without scoring allowing Seton Hill to take a 21-7 lead with 9:48 left in the half. That lead grew to 25 by the break.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Mercyhurst.
