CLARION DROPS 42-5 MEET TO #28 OHIO UNIVERSITY
 
                (CLARION, PA.): Clarion senior Sam Sherlock (West Mifflin) scored a technical fall at 141-pounds, but it was the only win for the Golden Eagles on Thursday night as #28 ranked Ohio University downed Clarion 42-5 in an NCAA Division I wrestling match on Thursday night.
 
                Clarion drops to 1-9 on the season, while Ohio University raised its record to 4-2.
 
                Clarion senior Sam Sherlock posted the only won for the Golden Eagles, a strong 21-5 technical fall victory over Joel Shump. Sherlock led 8-3 after the first period, with 3 takedowns and a 2-point near fall. Two takedowns and two near falls gave Sherlock a 17-5 lead after two periods, and a final three-point near fall in the third gave Sherlock his big win.
 
                Several close matches went to Ohio University on the night. Clarion heavyweight Evan Daley lost a tough 4-2 decision to Zack Parker in overtime.  Tied 2-2 in regulation, Parker scored a 40-seconds into overtime.
 
                Hunter Jones jumped out to a 7-2 midway through the second period at 125-pounds, but a reversal and a three point near far for Zachary Hassan tied the bout 7-7 entering the third. An escape and takedown by Hassan defeated Jones 10-7 at 125-pounds.
 
                Michael Pavasko wrestled a strong first period against #10 ranked Cody Walters at 174. Pavasko had a first period takedown and a minute of riding time before Walters escaped to make it 2-1 at the end of the first period. Pavasko chose down to start the second, and Walters hooked up a cradle and pinned the Clarion junior at 3:57.
 
                Daniel Sutherland also lost a tough 2-0 decision to Andrew Romanchik at 184. Romanchik used a third period escape and riding time to post that win.
 
                CLARION NOTES: The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday afternoon when Clarion hosts Eastern Michigan at 2pm.
