(Erie, Pa.): Clarion setter
Kaley Pittsley posted 49 assists,
Taylor Braunagel notched 16 kills,
Mackenzie Biggs 13 kills and
Morgan Seybold 24 digs as the Golden Eagles scored a big 3-1 win over Mercyhurst in PSAC-West play Friday night.
Clarion raised its record to 14-12 overall and 10-4 in the West, while Mercyhurst dropped to 13-12 overall and 8-6 in the West. Clarion won the match with scores of 25-14, 13-25, 25-22 and 25-23.
Clarion jumped out to an early lead in the first set and won handily 25-14 led by 7 kills from
Taylor Braunagel.
After losing the second set 25-13, Clarion came back to win 25-22 in set three. The eagles trailed 21-15, when Catherine Farrgonio, Braunagel,
Mackenzie Biggs and
Gabrielle Olson posted big kills to bring the Eagles back within 22-21.
Marissa Robertson posted a block, and Mercyhurst errored on the last three serves from Ferragonio and the Eagles had a big comeback win.
Clarion trailed 23-21 in the fifth set but kills by Biggs,
Abbey Cox and Braunagel set the stage for the 25-23 win.
Clarion's
Marissa Robertson also contributed 11 kills and 16 digsand
Morgan Herold 12 digs. Clarion plays at Gannon on Saturday at 2pm.
