Mackenzie Biggs 11 kills and 5 digs,
Marissa Robertson 8 kills and 13 digs,
Kaley Pittsley 36 assists and 8 digs and
Morgan Seybold 12 digs as the Golden Eagles posted a key 3-0 PSAC-West win at Gannon on Saturday afternoon at the Hammermill Center.
The win, which puts Clarion's overall record at 15-12, also gives the Eagles an 11-4 mark in the PSAC-Western Division, tying Clarion for second place in the West with the Lady Knights. Gannon is now 18-6 overall and 11-4 in the West.
Clarion won in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-18. Clarion hit 35.2% on the day and forced Gannon to make 20 attack errors in keying the win.
In the first set – with Clarion ahead 18-17,
Gabrielle Olson and
Taylor Braunagel had back to back kills for a 20-17 advantage.
Mackenzie Biggs had two kills down the stretch, including the set winner, to put the Eagles in front 1-0 with a 25-20 set win.
Clarion owned the second set from the outset, jumping out to a 12-4 lead. The points were well distributed with Braunagel getting 3 kills, and one each for Robertson,
Abbey Cox, Olson and
Morgan Herold.Robertson had two kills and a block on the final point of the set to give the Eagles a 25-13 win in set two. Clarion had a 41.4 attack percentage in the second set.
Clarion moved out to a 20-14 lead and again put the set and match away with
Mackenzie Biggs posting 6 kills including the set (25-18) and match winner.
After playing 21 of its last 22 matches on the road, the Eagles return home on October 30 to play Slippery Rock at Tippin Gym starting at 7pm.
