CLARION VB LOSES 3-0 AT IUP (Indiana, Pa.): Clarion's
Kaley Pittsley had 34 assists and
Morgan Seybold notched 23 digs but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles lost a 3-0 decision at IUP on Tuesday night at the Kovalchik Center.
Clarion's record dropped to 9-9 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC-West, while IUP raised its record to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the Western Division. IUP's win over Clarion was its first over the Golden Eagles since September of 2006.
IUP won by scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-23.
After losing the first set 25-19, the Golden Eagles rallied to take a lead in the second set. Trailing 20-15, Clarion rallied to take leads of 23-22 and 24-23 on kills by
Gabrielle Olson and Taylor Braunagel. But IUP answered with three straight points and a pivotal 26-24 second set win.
Clarion led the third set 19-15 and 22-16, but IUP rallied to tie at 22-22 and then continued for the 25-23 win. IUP scored 8 straight points in their comeback.
Mackenzie Biggs led the attack with 11 kills and
Taylor Braunagel and
Abbey Cox had 8 kills each.
Kaley Pittsley contributed 34 assists and 11 digs, and
Morgan Seybold had 23 digs.
Clarion returns to action visiting California Friday night at 7pm and then at Seton Hill on Saturday at 2pm.
