CLARION FALLS 2-1 TO #1 RANKED GANNON

(Clarion, PA) - The Clarion Golden Eagles soccer team dropped a match against the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches of America) #1 ranked Gannon Golden Knights 2-1.
The (11-0) Golden Knights started hot as senior forward Sammy Valloud booted in a goal within the first minute of the game.
Clarion, (3-8-1) was able to ward off the Gannon attack for the rest of the first half despite facing 15 shots, 9 of which were on goal and stopped by freshman goalkeeper
Krista Mosi.
At 52:05 in the second half, Mosi blasted a free kick from about 50 yards away to junior defender
Alissa Spencer who fought off a crowd of Golden Knight defenders and was able to tie the game at 1-1.
Less than ten minutes later, however, Valloud snuck behind the defense and received a pass from senior midfielder Kaitlyn Kissell to give Gannon their second goal and the lead.
The Golden Eagles had some chances to tie the game, including a shot from
Aaliyah Odom that just barely missed over the crossbar.
Clarion returns to action Saturday, October 10
th at Memorial Stadium against Kutztown University.
