(Clarion, Pa.) The Clarion University Women's Volleyball team defeated Gannon 3-0 Friday night at Tippin Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles were led by
Mackenzie Biggs with 14 kills,
Kaley Pittsley with 39 set assists, and
Morgan Seybold with 24 digs.
With the win Clarion improves to 19-14 on the season and 15-6 in the PSAC West, while with the loss Gannon falls to 22-8 for the year and 15-6 in the PSAC West.
Also with the win the Golden Eagles clinched a PSAC-West playoff berth and with a win Saturday against Mercyhurst, they will get to host a playoff game Tuesday night against an opponent to be determined.
In the first set of the match the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 20-11 led and were able to keep the lead to capture the first set by a score of 25-19
The second match was a little more competitive, but the Golden Eagles were able to take the second set by a score of 25-22.
In the third and final set of the match the Golden Eagles were able to win by a score of 25-18 to clinch the match.
The Golden Eagles also received key contributions from
Marissa Robertson who had 10 kills and 9 digs and also
Taylor Braunagel and
Gabrielle Olson who had 9 kills each for Clarion. Also for the Golden Eagles
Catherine Ferragonio added 10 digs.
The Golden Eagles return home Satuday afternoon to take on Mercyhurst for Senior Day and the final home game of the season. Seniors honored will be
Jocelyn Uchic,
Abbey Cox and
Morgan Seybold.
